For our trip to India, I’m doing a four a day picture diary.

Where is it happening?

What we are doing?

Who is involved?

Why?

Four pictures with a bit of commentary

Where is it happening?

Jaipur. A city I’ve always wanted to visit, and it didn’t disappoint. Way too many pictures to think about posting, but I chose this as it was taken just after successfully crossing the busiest road I’ve ever negotiated. The sheer buzz at surviving an everyday interaction you don’t even think about back home.

What we are doing?

A food tour. I’ve decided that doing an organised food tour with a guide is the best way to dive into a new city. Without going all Bourdain on you there’s definitely something about understanding the food/understanding the people. Plus , you try things you never would on your own.

Who is involved?

Me and Shaku , a 33 year old resident of an elephant sanctuary. Had a wonderful couple of hours with her, in a very wildlife friendly environment. No riding, no chains. Recommended.

Why?

Why are Indian ATM’s better than ours?

A) you queue politely outside a booth rather than stand on the street

B) They (In the English language ones at least) verbally ask you to enter your ‘secret number’, which is far better and more accurate than asking for a PIN.

C) They play a cool little tune as your cash is dispensed. I’m all for this kind of frivolity for livening up everyday humdrum interactions.

Four more tomorrow. (If you want more, and better photos – follow me on instagram

Namaste!
